Looking at The Beatles.

This video was in colour, and they spent a lot more money travelling to different places. This video also reinforces their personalities and shows them as individuals, although they are still shown as a group.

In the video, a lot of close-ups are used to illustrate the different personalities of John, Paul, Ringo and George.
Medium and long shots too as they are a band.
There is an element of performance in the video, to make it feel like you're there watching it happen.
Iconic imagery used in promotional material like posters which helps sell the product.

The proliferation of technology allowed record players to be cheaper, which was essential for The Beatles as this is how their music was made.

When The Beatles were on the Ed Sullivan show, 85 million people tuned in to watch it; which gives us an idea of just how popular this band was. At the time of them being on this particular show, there was recorded to be no crime happening; again reinforcing their popularity.

1967- 4 hundred million (400,000,000) people from all over the world watched the very first broadcast of the hit single 'All You Need Is Love'.

Magical Mystery Tour

When this 52 minute long film was broadcast in 1967, the BBC broadcast it in black and white. This infuriated the band's fans, as they wanted to see it in colour.

One of The Beatles hit songs 'I Am The Walrus' was banned by the BBC, simply because the word 'knickers' was mentioned.

Song lyrics timings.

[Verse 1:]
We wouldn't be seen dead here in the day (2)
I guess you're lucky that it's dark now (3)
And if I like it then we'll stay (3)
Impress the empress, take a shot now (4)

[Pre-chorus:]
We got the glow in our mouths (7)
White teeth teens are out (2)
White teeth teens are up for it (4)

[Chorus:]
I know you love it when the hairpins start to drop (5)
I like your reckoning, but we got our methods (4)
And there's nothing here to stop, to stop this (5)

[Verse 2:]
If you want we'll help tonight to split its seams (4)
Give the bruises out like gifts (2)
You'll get the picture of your dreams (3)
I won't be smiling (2)
But the notes from my admirers (2)
Fill the dashboard just the same (2)

[Pre-chorus]
We got the glow in our mouths (7)
White teeth teens are out (2)
White teeth teens are up for it (4)

[Chorus:]
I know you love it when the hairpins start to drop (5)
I like your reckoning, but we got our methods (4)
And there's nothing here to stop, to stop us when we're up for it (6)
I know you love it when the hairpins start to drop (5)
I like your reckoning, but we got our methods (4)
And there's nothing here to stop, to stop this (4)

(And everything works out so good (4)
I wear the robe like no one could) (4)

[Bridge:]
I'll let you in on something big (5)
I am not a white teeth teen (3)
I tried to join but never did (5)
The way they are, the way they seem is something else, it's in the blood (8)
Their molars blinking like the lights, in the underpass where we all sit (8)
And do nothing (1)
And love it (2)

[Outro:]
And everything works out so good (4)
I wear the robe like no one could (4)

And everything works out so good (4)
I wear the robe like no one could (4)

We got the glow in our mouths (7)
White teeth teens are out (3)
White teeth teens are out (3)

Chosen song.

This song by Lorde is all about being one of the 'cool kids', as these are referred to as 'white teeth teens'. She sings about how they are the popular ones everyone wants to be friends with, and says how she tried to be one but didn't fit the image.
